What’s SMT Stencils

An SMT stencil, also known as steel mesh or steel template, is a metal fixture used in SMT assembly. Its main function is to accurately transfer a defined volume of solder paste onto PCBs, which directly determines solder paste printing quality. Stencils are manufactured by laser cutting or chemical etching to form precise apertures on thin metal sheets. The metal foil is stretched and fixed onto an aluminum frame to achieve the required working size.
